The first ‘Breakfast with Santa’ was held in 2013 and was the brain-child of Stephanie Sheldon, then the current owner of the Lazy D Restaurant. Stephanie had the idea to offer breakfast for the kids and Santa would ‘pop in’ and talk to the kids so they could see and visit with Santa in a family setting. She also thought it would be a good idea to have a set-up so pictures could be taken with Santa as well and that is where we came in. The first year was successful with several local families coming for breakfast with Santa as a family and sharing the experience. Stephanie then suggested that in future years the community add something to the ‘Breakfast with Santa’ idea so families could spend the day together locally doing something fun during the holiday season. From that idea, the Christmas “Celebration” in Taylor was born.
A local group, Taylor Area Builders, stepped in and planned an afternoon of activities for the kids and their families. It has been perfected and refined the past few years but it has turned into a local event that area families look forward too.
New owners, Jessica Predmore and Derik Metz, took over the Lazy D Restaurant in 2015. They have continued the tradition of ‘Breakfast with Santa’ and make the event even more fun with the staff all joining in and dressing up as elves. Plus Mrs. Claus also joins Santa Claus and sometimes the little ones are happier with Mrs. Claus!
We enjoy the event and the kids as well. It’s so fun to see the excitement and joy in the kids’ and parent’s faces and to see them spend special time together. We look forward to seeing you too!
