ABOUT
Meet Darcia
Hello, I’m Darcia Kovarik. I’ve spent most of my life in the Nebraska Sandhills, where my love for the outdoors, cattle, and horses took root. My husband and I ranch together and raise Shetland ponies—a way of life that has shaped who I am and how I see the world.
My journey with photography began when my four children were young. What started as a desire to preserve everyday memories grew into a lifelong practice of observing light, land, and the quiet moments that often go unnoticed. Over time, my work has evolved into fine art rooted in rural life—honest, unhurried, and deeply connected to place.
My heart has always been drawn to the beauty of ordinary days: the way light moves across pasture, the stillness between chores, the rhythms that quietly define rural life. There is peace in knowing I am exactly where I’m meant to be, and my images grow from that certainty.
Generations before me built something meaningful on this land—something worth honoring and carrying forward. Through my photography, I seek to preserve that legacy, capturing the spirit of the land and the stories woven into it for those who will come after us.
Whether I’m checking pastures, feeding ponies, spending time with family, or simply walking the hills, my camera is never far from reach. It’s how I bear witness to the life I’ve been given.
I am a member of Professional Photographers of America (PPA), Nebraska Arts Council, and Grow Nebraska.
